A Message from our President, Sue Karlin I am very happy to be your new President of the SJRMC Auxiliary. There are so many amazing men and women who give of their time and talents to the hospital, its employees, and patients, and I am proud to be a part of this organization. My journey as a volunteer and Auxillary member began in 2009 when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I completed 6 treatments of chemotherapy and 33 radiation treatments. During this time period I learned about many programs and services for cancer patients provided by the American Cancer Society and SJRMC, and came I into contact with auxiliary and hospital volunteers who inspired and motivated me during my treatments. Once I had completed all of my treatments I had a desire to give back in some way, and I applied to the Volunteer program at the hospital and received the hospital and ACS training. I began volunteering in September 2010 at San Juan Oncology and SJR Cancer Center. Through my volunteering I was asked to be on the Auxiliary Board as a representative of the Cancer Centers. After several years of serving on the Auxiliary Board and helping with fund raising and decision making, I was nominated to be the President. I look forward to serving and working with so many wonderful people and wish to continue the great traditions of the Auxiliary. At the Auxiliary State Convention in Albuquerque in September 2017, one the members of the New Mexico Hospital Association who works with auxiliaries said, …"Auxiliaries are the heart and soul of the hospitals. Come join us and find out how satisfying it is to use your talents and gifts to help others. Sue Karlin Pet Therapy page 2
